A piece of history is preserved in 二崁, where visitor can picture themselves living in the past.
Handwritten poem on rustic wall adds character... but not quite sure how to interpret the poem...
I overheard a tour guide say the darker color rocks are more expensive, so by looking at the wall and how many dark color rocks were used, you cal tell how rich the family living inside is.
Seems like coral rocks are plentiful, using them to build low fences is a unique Penghu style.

2012 May Taiwan Trip - Day 3 - Point 10 -竹灣螃蟹博物館
This "crab museum" has collected some of the weirdest looking creatures of the sea... but you know what Taiwanese people would say when they come into this museum? I had eaten that, that, that, that,....
2012 May Taiwan Trip - Day 3 - Point 09 - 大義宮
Other than the large beautifully crafted temple, many many devoted believers, and the legends of how it protected the island, what is most impressive about 大義宮 is the surprising underground structure.
You wouldn't believe underneath a temple, there is a cave like structure decorated with coral rocks and colorful lights.
There is also a small pool where green sea turtles are being kept with care. The temple work closely with animal protection agencies to make sure all the turtles are under the best care possible in this environment.
There is another smaller pool where a live fossil - Limulidae, or horseshoe crab - are being kept. It is really a rare sight to be able to see these two protected animal up-close.

2012 May Taiwan Trip - Day 3 - Point 08 - 漁翁島鄉村美食 (Lunch)
Lunch time! sorry for the blurry photos, I was hungry...
Raw oysters - oysters in Taiwan are smaller, about the size of the tip of your fingers, but they are packed in flavour. Eating it raw with wasabi, a drip of soy souce, and green onion is the perfect way to emphasize the natural flavour..
Soft boiled squid with sweet mayo.
Stir fried "sea snail"?
"Red Bride" fish steamed with salted daikon - lots of tiny bones...
sea urchin scramble egg... really? sea urchin? scrambled?
seaweed fish soup
Stewed "cat tongue snail" with pork intestine, pork, and pressed tofu - the cat tongue snail looks like a very small version of abalone, very hard to clean and take a long time to cook to desired softness. It is definitely rare.

2012 May Taiwan Trip - Day 3 - Point 07 - 跨海大橋
跨海大橋 is the longest bridge that connects the two of the larger island of Penghu, total length approx. 2.5km. Another famous tourist destination to admire how human can conquer nature.
2012 May Taiwan Trip - Day 3 - Point 06 - 中屯風力發電區
Penghu, as an island in the middle of the ocean, of course there would be strong tropical wind. So using wind turbines to generate electricity is definitely a good idea.
