2012 May Taiwan Trip - Day 3 - Point 09 - 大義宮

Other than the large beautifully crafted temple, many many devoted believers, and the legends of how it protected the island, what is most impressive about 大義宮 is the surprising underground structure.
You wouldn't believe underneath a temple, there is a cave like structure decorated with coral rocks and colorful lights.
There is also a small pool where green sea turtles are being kept with care. The temple work closely with animal protection agencies to make sure all the turtles are under the best care possible in this environment.

There is another smaller pool where a live fossil - Limulidae, or horseshoe crab - are being kept. It is really a rare sight to be able to see these two protected animal up-close.
